The international Meeting on Pioneers in Infectious Agents and Cancers (Bob Gallo’s 80 Birthday Anniversary) is intended to gather virologists, immunologists, vaccinologists, oncologists, and molecular biologists, for a multidisciplinary approach to chronic viral infections and cancer. Genetic instability of tumor cells and escape mechanisms are relevant for both viral infections and tumors and these are major limitations for both viral and tumor vaccines. New avenues are related to identification of new antigens, their presentation with new adjuvants, direct presentation to dendritic cells, DNA vaccines, structured particles. Furthermore new regulatory strategies are needed for new bio-molecular therapeutic approaches.
